Complaint/Notification History

Back

This dashboard displays complaint and notification history information for Chicago Police Department sworn officers. Note that all complaints and notifications are assigned a log number, so not all log numbers represent a disciplinary investigation. This dashboard does not include pending complaints or notifications.

The “Recommended Discipline” column is only relevant to matters sustained by the recommending investigative component – CPD Bureau of Internal Affairs or IPRA/COPA. In some cases, the recommended discipline was not served because the recommendation was not accepted by the Department, or the discipline was changed through subsequent administrative rulings, such as an arbitration or Police Board decision. Per the Personnel Records Review Act, discipline over four years old may not be released and is therefore categorized in the dashboard as “Unreportable.”

Data Sources: Chicago Police Department databases and Chicago Integrated Personnel and Payroll System (ChIPPS). Records begin January 1, 2007 and the data is typically refreshed daily between 4PM and 11:59PM CST. Data is current through the date of last update (listed at the top of the dashboard).

Complaints initiated on or after February 11th are not included. Complaints prior to February 11th will continue to be updated.
