Acting Up

« Back to Glossary Index

Acting Up occurs when an employee is directed to, and does perform, or is held accountable for, substantially all of the responsibilities of a higher-graded covered class. By law, Acting Up may only be a temporary assignment. Except in the unusual circumstance of an approved waiver from the Department of Human Resources, no employee may act up for more than 90 days and may be directed to do so only due to a budgeted vacancy or a long term leave of the position’s incumbent.
