CFD Emergency Events Map

What will you find here?

To understand which communities may be impacted more by emergency events than others, this dashboard compares the number of emergency events to which the Chicago Fire Department (CFD) has been dispatched to the population of each Chicago zip code. This interactive map also allows users to compare events between different zip codes. Users can also show CFD fire stations on the map to assess CFD service areas.

Some questions that can be answered using data in this dashboard include:

  • Which zip code had the highest number of CFD emergency events in the past year?
  • How many zip codes have more than one CFD station to respond to emergencies? (Hint: Click on the siren icon to show the fire stations)
  • How does the number of CFD emergency events on the north side compare to those on the south side?
